DOCUMENTARY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER TORONTO, ONTARIO CANADA

Hi, I’m Andreas Avdoulos — a professional documentary wedding photographer serving clients across Toronto and Southern Ontario, Canada.

I photograph weddings in a candid, journalistic style that captures the day as it naturally unfolds, without staged moments, or distractions to you or your guests.

The result is a collection of intimate, personal and genuine images that reflect your real wedding experience, not a performance.

I offer one level of photography service - full wedding coverage and a flat rate for either weekend or weekday weddings, making the process much more transparent and simple.

“It was a pleasure working with you Andreas. Thank you for working so professionally with our clients. We look forward to working with you again in the future”

20+ Years of Professional Documentary Wedding Photography in Toronto, Ontario.

When it comes to wedding photography, I’m a firm believer that the best wedding photos are those that are made when moments are left to happen without intrusion, interruption or direction. Candid, genuine, unplanned and completely one-of-a-kind.

If you’re looking for a set of unique photographs of your wedding that don’t look like “wedding photography” and you would much rather spend the day with your friends and family than worrying about what photos to make, then you’re at the right place today.

My fascination with the documenting one of the rituals in life, that connect us all, across all faiths and cultures began years ago at a family wedding.

I didn’t know it then, but those three rolls of black and white film that I photographed for myself would mark the beginning of my career as a documentary wedding photographer serving couples across Toronto, Ontario as well as at International destination weddings. I bring my whole self to every wedding I photograph, but the work is only made possible by the access and trust that my clients provide me with, something that I am grateful for.

Thank you for spending time here today.

I look forward to hearing your story and learning about what matters most to you.

One of the Wedding Photography Best Reviews of 2025

When Ron and I started planning our wedding, we had a pretty clear sense of what we didn’t want! We weren’t interested in the traditional playbook our parents weddings, and after attending several weddings during our engagement, we had developed a strong sense of what truly mattered to us. We knew that we wanted vendors that would blend in with our guests, not stand out. We knew that we wanted great food, a beautiful venue, and an incredible experience for our guests, so when it came to finding a photographer, we were pretty particular. We wanted someone who was confident in their ability and able to hang out with a few hundred people without being intrusive.

While searching for vendors, we kept running into the same language over and over. Promises of “timeless beauty” and capturing “how you felt”. But here’s the thing. I knew how I was going to feel on my wedding day—anxious, emotional, and probably on the verge of tears from start to finish. The last thing I wanted was a photo gallery that mirrored my internal chaos. Who would want photos showing “how I felt” if I actually was an emotional basket case on my wedding day!?

Then I stumbled across Andreas's name in a Reddit thread (thank you, internet strangers) and everything just clicked. His work didn’t feel staged or forced. The images felt like the photographer actually knew the people he was photographing. Like he had been invited in, not just hired. There was intimacy and honesty in the way he documented things, but also so much care.

Our wedding ended up being pretty emotional. I lost my dad six months before, and by the time the ceremony started, I was a wreck. Somehow, Andreas navigated it all with complete sensitivity. The images he delivered are full of grace and depth, but miraculously, he managed to avoid the swollen-eyed, mid-sob shots I was dreading. He just got it.

Andreas, you were such a grounding presence that day. Aside from marrying Ron, having you there was genuinely the best decision I made.

Forever fans of your work – Nikki and Ron

  • No fuss. No stress. My approach: put people at ease, and capture intimate, candid and relaxed photos of them enjoying your wedding day with you.

It’s a blend of “documentary” - capturing moments as they happen, and some family portraits and portraits of the two of you.

Low key, relaxed, and not about me at all.

  • All of the photographs on my website were made at weddings where the couple told me the exact same thing.

I’ve been doing this long enough to know how to read the room, and while it’s important to know what to photograph, and when to do it…it’s as important to know when not to be there with the camera and simply let people be in the moment themselves.

  • No. Being a digital photographer, the files are colour by default.

However, black and white is what I love and I feel it really helps simplify the viewing process.

The images become less about the colours, and all about the expression and the moment.

  • Today. Within the hour more than likely.

I’ll let you know today if I’m available on your date.

If I am, we’ll schedule a time that works for you to have our first phone call.

  • I take a very low key approach to things. I work alone for most of the weddings I photograph, and I dress to fit in just like a guest.

Your wedding is not for my portfolio, and when I’m there, I’m taking photographs for you, of you, of your families and your friends. My goal as your photographer is to capture the vibe of the day through my first-person’s view approach to photography.

  • Please no.

The portraits of the two of you will be made quickly without much fuss or stress.

Beautiful things happen when you simply let people in love be themselves.

  • I’ve photographed hundreds of weddings since my first one back in 2003.

I’m also happily married for just over 20 years, and together we have three kids (all teenagers now)

I studied design, and worked in advertising before photographing weddings. I’ve also designed, built, and operated a small specialty espresso bar.

Photographing weddings for couples who put a big priority on simply celebrating the day with their friends and family versus those who want to take countless posed photos all day long keeps me interested and inspired in this work that I do. *hint hint

  • If the venue is booked, and you enjoy the work I do, and we’ve had our phone call and everything lines up, I recommend booking then.

I have dates still available for 2025, and I’m now booking into Fall of 2026.

  • “I have no words, just love for all the images and their stories. Thank you Andreas for capturing everything we could've asked for and more!”

“We had a wonderful experience with Andreas! His pictures were exactly what we had hoped for and he was incredibly easy to get along with.”

    – Christy McKean

“I do not have the words to describe the incredible experience we had with Andreas! My husband and I had to search last minute for a photographer and knew we found our guy when he asked what our venue was like rather than our budget!
His attention to detail and his laid back friendly attitude make him a seamless addition to your wedding day without the stress of managing a photographer. I cannot recommend Andreas enough to anyone looking for a wedding photographer.”

    – Maya Marshall, Bride

“Where do I start?! Andreas’ work is phenomenal. He truly captures the moments that you wish you could freeze in time. Rather than having an assortment of super posed photos, I have a gallery that shows the energy and feeling of our wedding day. From start to finish, Andreas has been super supportive, involved, and fun to work with - our guests loved him!”

    – Melissa Younan, Bride

“I had the pleasure of collaborating with Andrea as one of my vendors for a beautiful three-day wedding event in Samos. He has an eye for capturing those fleeting moments that go by unnoticed.”
